- One of the bright young voices in sports talk radio in New York is Brooklyn native, Brandon Tierney. The 35 year old has made a name for himself as one of the more respected, insightful and well-informed personalities in the nation's largest and most competitive sports and entertainment market.
Tierney was named host of 1050 ESPN New York's weekday 10AM - Noon show on March 25, 2009. Since 2006, Brandon had hosted the station's weeknight 7-10PM show.
Tierney joined 1050 ESPN in 2003 as a SportsCenter anchor. He hosted 1050's Knicks pre-game, half-time and post-game show for three seasons (2005-06 through 2007-08) and as occasional play-by-play announcer for the station's Knicks broadcasts. His game experience includes serving as lead analyst for St. John's basketball.
On the television side, Tierney joined SportsNet New York as a panelist on the network's weeknight show, "The WheelHouse," and host of SNY's Weekly Red Storm Report with St. John's head coach Norm Roberts.
Tierney has made many television guest appearances, including ESPN 2's "Quite Frankly with Steven A. Smith," MSNBC's "Power Lunch," "Sunday Morning Sports Roundtable" on CBS 2 New York, guest on WNBC's "Press Box," "Friday Night Sports Wrap," on FOX 5 WJBK Detroit, and also worked as a guest host for ESPN 2's "Cold Pizza." He is a frequent contributor to ESPN's "Outside the Lines."
A native New Yorker, Brandon graduated from Marist College, where he earned a B.A. in Journalism while also lettering in baseball.
