Steven Cuevas: As we've been reporting all day, the California Supreme court has upheld Proposition 8 - the voter-approved measure banning gay marriage. But the court will not invalidate the 18,000 same sex marriages carried out before the ban. Prop 8 got a lot of support from Inland Empire religious leaders. But KPCC's Steven Cuevas says some in the Adventist Church are just as split over the issue as the state's high court.

Frank Stoltze: It's hard to imagine Pastor Rick Warren's profile growing any larger. Warren heads Saddleback Church in Orange County, one of the largest congregations in the United States.He's written a best-selling Christian devotional. But on Tuesday, his audience will expand even more when he delivers the official prayer at the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama in Washington D.C. KPCC's Frank Stoltze has this profile of the minister.

Frank Stoltze: A recent Gallup survey ranks Muslims as the least trusted religious group in America. That can make it tough to grow up faithful to Islam. But when KPCC's Frank Stoltze spoke with a group of kids at the Muslim Public Affairs Council convention in Long Beach, they told him their lives are pretty much like those of other kids.

Frank Stoltze: The Reverend Rick Warren was the featured speaker this weekend at a Muslim conference in Long Beach. President-elect Obama has invited the evangelical minister to deliver the invocation at his inauguration. That's angered many gays and lesbians. Warren briefly addressed that issue and reached out to Muslims in what was billed as his first major address to a Muslim audience. KPCC's Frank Stoltze reports.

Patricia Nazario: As part of KPCC's "Season's Givings" series, KPCC's Patricia Nazario visits Dolores Mission Church, which also serves as a men's shelter. Volunteers help prepare meals for the men and do a variety of other tasks.

Steven Cuevas: This weekend marks the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It commemorates the Virgin Mary's appearances before a Mexican peasant more than 500 years ago. KPCC's Steven Cuevas says for Latino Catholics, the feast day has deep significance.

Kitty Felde: For most of the delegates attending this week's Democratic National Convention in Denver, politics is like a religion. Religion of the more traditional sort was evident Sunday afternoon during an interfaith service. KPCC's Special Correspondent Kitty Felde says it was full of political hot buttons.

Susan Valot: Santa Ana Police are teaming up with several local churches to help combat gangs and violence in the city center. KPCC Orange County Reporter Susan Valot says church volunteers accompanied police door-to-door during a three-day crackdown on crime and violence this week.
