  • The Friday Morning Early Music Show is dedicated to Western Music of the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. Tune in to hear the music of such composers as Machaut, Dufay, Hildegard von Bingen, Josquin Desprez, Palestrina, Ocheghen, Obrecht, Tallis, Byrd, Monteverdi, Purcell, Rameau, and the prolific "anonymous." The program often examines music within a specific theme. Recent shows have included "Music of Tudor-period England," "Music of Heinrich Schutz," "The Roman de Fauvel and the French Ars Nova," "Songs of Lost Love," "The Notre Dame School," and "Music of the English Restoration." The Early Music Show provides listeners with a link to the growing Early Music community, with information of live performances around the city and insightful interviews with leading and emerging artists and scholars. Lutanist Paul O'Dette, Frederick Renz, director of New York's Ensemble for Early Music, Marcel Pérès, director of Ensemble Organum, and members of the ensembles Anonymous 4, Lionheart, Rebel, and many others have all discussed their work live on Friday mornings on WKCR.
